Gratin dishes also make great serving dishes, due to the excellent heat retention properties of the cast iron, allowing your food to stay warmer for longer.
The small size makes this dish perfect for personal portions or for side dishes, and the simple good looks mean it can go straight from the oven to the table. A double enamelled layer gives it a more durable finish whilst making it easier to clean - it can even go in your dishwasher! All colours are cream and various shapes include round & oval.

Use & Care
Enamelled Cast Iron is cast iron that is covered with a porcelain surface. The result is a pan that has the same even heat distribution and retention qualities as cast iron but with added rust prevention properties and a non-reactive, low-stick surface. This makes it perfectly safe to leave cooked food in, and to refrigerate. The enamel coating also eliminates the seasoning and cleaning issues of bare cast iron.
Tips on use and care:
- If the pot is knocked or dropped the enamel can chip. Do not use a pan that has a chipped interior. It is not possible to re-enamel chipped pans.
- Do not overheat or heat the pan when empty or the enamel may craze and then chip.
- Wash the pans with detergent and a soft pad, but avoid using anything abrasive as the surface can be scratched and damaged.
- If food is stuck on soak the pan for half and hour and remove the softened food with a wooden spoon.
- Do not use the pots to stew berry fruits as this can damage the enamel.
- Never use metal implements with enamelled cast iron.
- Pans with ground flat bases are suitable for all hob types including induction.
Tips on use and care for Enamelled Cast Iron Frying Pans:
- Frying pans made of enamelled cast iron usually have a hard wearing black enamel lining. Treat in exactly the same way as described for plain cast iron.
- When treated with a non-stick lining be especially careful not to overheat the pan or use metal implements on it.
